I saw this contest link posted on one of the social media websites earlier this month. I took interests upon it because I never had the chance to design layouts on a video game's controller before, also, being an avid gamer and huge Xbox fan, this was cool opportunity I had to partake.
Though, Microsoft did provide sample controller templates, the PSD & AI files weren't very helpful. Personally, I found it only useful for scale references and I had to recreate my own layout to make the controller look more "realistic"; unlike a lot of the entries that were submited, which were rather flat looking. The hardest part was having to submit only three designs, I managed to compose a total of eight. My submissions can be seen in the link above after you search under "Loi". Quick update. My 'Green Technology' design became one of ten finalists chosen for the People's Choice vote. That's from a total of 2320 designs submitted! I'm pretty stoked about it! Still, the competition looks fierce, especially with the Zombie design rendered by Aaron of New Zealand. >_<
